SCFAC relies entirely on private contributions and grants for funding. Each member of our nonprofit is a volunteer, so we have no salaries or employee costs.

The History of Our Seminole County 501c3 and Support for Children

Our organization grew out of a need we saw while advocating for abused and neglected children in court during parental rights and responsibilities cases. These children received the minimal, basic necessities they needed, but little else. They rarely got the simple items and services that helped them live normal childhoods after the trauma they suffered.

Seminole County Friends of Abused Children, Inc. (SCFAC), a registered 501C3, was incorporated in 1990 to fill in the funding gaps federal and state programs leave. This includes money for clothing, luggage, summer camp, eyeglasses, holiday gifts and much more. Funds we raise also pay for educational, medical and legal needs.

Who Are the SCFAC Founders?

Our founding board members were all members of the Florida Guardian ad Litem program who were tired of seeing children relocating to new homes by carrying all their worldly possessions in trash bags. They didn’t think these disadvantaged children should miss out on birthdays, school trips or after-school sports.

We strive to give back to neglected and abused children who have had so much taken from them at a young age. This includes helping at-risk children by providing preventative care for children and young adults who are vulnerable to situations like drug use, homelessness and gang violence.
